Operation Instructions

Introduction

Red Rover is a head-to-head two player game. The goal is to get a ground unit off your opponent's side of the board while preventing your opponent from getting a ground unit off your side of the board.

Start the Game

When you are ready to start the battle, press on the START button on your control panel. When your opponent also presses START, the battle will begin!

Supply Units

Supply units are the key to building your army. The game starts with two supply units pre-positioned on the board for each player. Supply units on the board generate resources. The amount of resources are displayed in the lower left corner.
Each player may have a maximum of two supply units on the board. When a supply unit is destroyed, you may drag a new supply unit onto the board - as long as you have enough resources to pay for it. Supply units are vulnerable so be sure to support them as soon as possible.

Buying Units

Across the bottom of each player's side is a bar containing a selection of units. Each unit is labeled with a purchase cost. When you have accumulated enough resources to buy a unit, you may drag the piece onto your side of the board. This will expend said amount of resources.

Place Units on the Board

As you drag the unit, a green or red box will appear indicating whether or not you can place the unit at that position. Green means you can, red means you cannot.

You cannot place a unit on your opponents side of the board or in the middle 'No Mans Land'. You cannot place any ground unit on top of an existing ground unit and you cannot place an air unit on top of any air unit.

Battle

Once a unit is placed on the board, it will fight on its own and cannot be removed. Combat only occurs between units placed in the same column. Infantry, Tank and Air units move forward while all other units remain in place.

Strategy

The key to victory is choosing the right combination of units. Every piece has strengths and weaknesses. Attacks need to be supported by cannons and air. Cannons should be supported by trenches. Trenches should be supported by wire and tank traps.

Units Types

Refer to the Arsenal descriptions for more information on each army unit type.

Pausing and Surrendering

The battle may be paused at anytime by touching the pause button on the center of the game board. This will bring you back to the player control panels. When a battle is paused, the surrender switch will be enabled allowing one of the players to surrender.

Settings

In the settings panel, you can control music volume, effects volume, the initial resource level and the amount of randoness in the game. Increasing the randomizer alters the amount of damage and the rate of fire for every attack.
